Men Taking A Visible Stance Against Domestic Abuse

A group of Bloomington-Normal men came together in June of 2007 to form Central Illinois Men Against Domestic Abuse (CIMADA).  Together, these men take a visible, strong and proactive stance against domestic abuse through education and mentoring - either man to man or man to boy.

On September 1, 2008, approximately 100 people marched with CIMADA in the Bloomington Labor Day parade, marking the second year this event has taken place.  CIMADA is currently working to create education programs to be distributed to local schools and the men continue to mentor each other and younger men through outings and other events.

Mission Statement

  • Educate adults, youth, and children on how to be in healthy relationships
  • Work to provide changes in stereotypes concerning domestic abuse
  • As men we will be good role models for adults, youth, and children for treating others with respect
